The story of I VERONI estate started in XII century and the owner was Conti Guidi , at that time the Fattoria was dominated by a watch tower, now in ruins In the end of XVI°century the vineyard and farmland of I Veroni was an important part of the extensive feudal estates of GATTESCHI family They started to build the first fermentation tanks , and some of them are still visible in the original cellars. The oldest original documents about FATTORIA I VERONI is from 1582 when I VERONI was a property of Gatteschi family .
This document is a part of the Testament Bartolomeo d’Angiolo Gatteschi where he describes all I VERONI vineyards location and he also describes the grapes variety they planted in every area of different vineyards .
The word I VERONI comes from the old Tuscan “ VERONE “ , it means balcony - terrace or loggias and it was very common in Country houses on the final part of exterior stairs . Inside Fattoria I VERONI some terraces and one of them is arrived to present time ! Many years ago on the Arno River plans there where important Tobacco plantations and I VERONI’s balconies was used to dry tobacco lives

produces estate bottled wines and is located in the best part of
CHIANTI RUFINA wine district in Pontassieve village , few miles far from Florence ( about 10 km )
I VERONI global estates is about 70 hectares : 20 Ha with vineyards , 50 ha with about 4000 olive trees
I VERONI estate starts from 100 mt ASL and reach 350 mt ASL where you still find the very old church “ PIEVE DI SAN MARTINO A QUONA “ where you can enjoy our best Sangiovese vineyards
I VERONI started to re-build the old vineyards in the early ’90 and now we have all new modern vineyard with no less than 5000 grape plants per Ha and 16 ha with two different variety of Sangiovese , 2 ha with some different range of international grapes , and 2 ha with a couple of traditional Tuscan white grape varieties ( Trebbiano and Malvasia ) we use for Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina doc production .
The Cellar is inside the old FATTORIA I VERONI building which is located in the west side of the village PONTASSIEVE We still use a part of the original cellar from 1809 where we age our best wines in French and Slavonia oak Barrels , finally we use a new part of our cellar ( restored in 2004 ) for the wine’s fermentation and for bottles ageing and storage We still produce a very limited quantity of Vin Santo , a traditional late harvest and dessert wine , Vin Santo’s Room is located under the roof in the storical Villa 400 years old and Vin santo casks are located in this particular and traditional room from 1950 to the present day.
I VERONI Olive groves are located around San Martino a Quona hills and they are about 40 hectares , Olive trees from one side they are closed to Sangiovese Vineyards for CHIANTI RUFINA RESERVE production and they also run in North west direction up to Pelacane’s river . I Veroni has about 4000 olive trees and they are composed of 3 different olive plants and variety FRANTOIO , MORAIOLO and LECCINO We are also working to create new Organic Extravigin olive oil in the next years
